Hey, everyone! Today, I'm going to show you how to make an easy classic no-bake southern dessert—banana pudding! This recipe is a childhood favorite and brings back so many nostalgic memories. Let's get started!
Ingredients:
Pudding:
2 cups whole milk, cold
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 packet instant vanilla pudding mix
Whipped Cream:
2 cups heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Assembly:
3-4 large bananas, sliced into coins
1 box vanilla wafers (or chess cookies or shortbread cookies)
Instructions:
Prepare the Pudding:
In a large bowl, add 2 cups of cold whole milk.
Add 1 can of sweetened condensed milk.
Sprinkle in 1 packet of instant vanilla pudding mix.
Whisk until thoroughly combined and silky smooth.
Chill the pudding in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes to allow it to set up.
Make the Whipped Cream:
In a mixing bowl, add 2 cups of heavy cream, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
Whip until you have nice firm but still silky peaks. Be careful not to overwhip, as it can turn into butter.
Prepare the Bananas:
Slice the bananas into thin coins, about 1/4 inch thick.
Do not slice the bananas too far in advance to prevent browning.
Fold the Whipped Cream into the Pudding:
Once the pudding has set, gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture until well combined.
Assemble the Banana Pudding:
In a trifle dish or a large baking dish, add a layer of vanilla wafers.
Add a quarter of the pudding mixture on top of the wafers and smooth it out with a spatula.
Add another layer of vanilla wafers, arranging some against the edge of the dish for a nice presentation.
Add a layer of sliced bananas on top of the wafers.
Repeat the layers: pudding, wafers, bananas, until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.
If using a trifle dish, press some banana slices against the glass for a decorative touch.
Top with Additional Whipped Cream:
Whip up an additional batch of whipped cream using 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Smooth the whipped cream over the top of the pudding, creating playful wisps.
Finish with Crumbled Cookies:
Crumble a few vanilla wafers on top of the whipped cream for a crunchy garnish.
You can enjoy this banana pudding right away or let it set up in the fridge, even overnight if you prefer. If you enjoyed this recipe, don't forget to check out my no-bake playlist. This banana pudding is creamy, dreamy, and sure to be a hit!
